Drilling down into a query's data

Every query result is the starting point for another query or further exploration. Clicking on a supported data point will present you with a drill menu, offering options for further exploring that data point:

The drill menu provides three options:

  1. Filter — By clicking this option, the data point selected will be added as a filter to the existing query. Re-run the query to refresh the data corresponding to the new filter.

  2. Dashboards (Subcategories) — By clicking this option, you’ll be taken to a dashboard that breaks down the underlying data associated with the data point you selected, one level deeper in the Centricity hierarchy. In the example above, the selected data point is a Category, so the dashboard drill menu presents the option to drill into the Subcategory dashboard. If the selected data point were a Subcategory, the drill menu would present the option to drill into the Subset dashboard.

  3. Dashboards (Facets) — By clicking this option, you’ll be taken to a dashboard that breaks down the underlying Facet data associated with the data point you selected. In the example above, the Facet dashboard would be filtered to display only the Facet data associated with Baking Staples during your selected time period.

Conclusion

Now that you know how powerful the Centricity Explore page is for building queries, displaying results, and discovering insights through iterative searches, you might want to limit your results to just the data you’re interested in.
