Starting a schedule from a folder

You can create a schedule for all types of Centricity content — dashboards, Looks, and Explores.

One option for doing so is to find the content you want to schedule through the Browse tab. Doing so from this stage will prompt you with a different pop-up window than you’ll see when starting a schedule while viewing the content itself. This page details the process you’ll follow when starting a schedule from a folder.

To start a schedule from a folder, click the item’s three-dot menu and choose “Edit Schedule” (if there is already a schedule in place for the item) or “Add Schedule” (if there isn’t yet a schedule in place).

Customizing data deliveries

Once you start creating a schedule, Centricity will prompt you with several customization options for your delivery.

Options and formatting

In the pop-up window displaying your scheduling choices, you’ll see all schedules created for this content in the left panel. If this is the first schedule you’re creating for this content, the main panel will include default values for all scheduling options. Modify these values as needed. If you have already created schedules for this specific content, the main panel will include the saved scheduled settings.

To edit an existing schedule, select that schedule and change the options, then save.

To create additional schedules for the same content, click “New” and customize the settings, then save.

Naming the schedule

Name your schedule in the corresponding field at the top of the pop-up window. The title will then appear in the left panel after you save the schedule.

Choosing a delivery destination

Depending on your organization’s Centricity configurations, the default delivery destination may be email, and this setting may not be visible.

For those with the option of choosing a delivery destination, each listed destination will offer different data formatting and other delivery options. For specific information about each destination’s settings, follow the corresponding links:

Choosing a data format

The data formats available for your schedule depend on the selected destination. For more information about each destination’s settings, follow the corresponding links above.

Triggering delivery

There are two ways to trigger data deliveries:

  • Repeating interval — Delivery schedule follows set rules at regular times, set according to the instructions in the Timing the Schedule section below.

  • Datagroup update — For those with datagroups, you can schedule delivery to occur after a datagroup has been triggered, has managed the cache, and has rebuilt relevant PDTs.

To use the Datagroup update trigger, choose the source datagroup from the “Select Datagroup” dropdown menu in the pop-up window.

To schedule a Look or dashboard using a datagroup trigger, the Look or dashboard tile’s model file needs to include a datagroup parameter. Centricity lists all datagroups defined in the models included in the given Look or dashboard tile, even if the datagroups are not used to handle caching for queries or PDTs.

In the case of dashboards, which may have multiple tiles associated with multiple datagroups, you are given the option to choose from any of the datagroups that are associated with the dashboard. The entire dashboard will be sent when the selected datagroup completes.

Schedules based on datagroups are only triggered to send once the regeneration process has completed for all PDTs that are persisted with that datagroup parameter, ensuring that your delivery includes the most up-to-date data.

Timing the schedule

You can customize the timing of your schedule in the “Deliver this schedule” section. Timing options depend on whether you choose Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Hourly, or By minute delivery. Adjust time zone for the schedule in the Advanced options section.

If you have access to Trigger options, the “Deliver this schedule” only appears when the Trigger is set to Repeating interval.

Applying filters to a delivery

If you deliver a Look or dashboard with filters, you can filter the results delivered to each set of recipients. For example, you might send regional teams results filtered for their states or counties of interest.

Changing the filter options in the Send or Schedule windows does not change the filters of your Look or dashboard, only the data deliveries you’re editing.
